Partnering to Support Young People in Kolkata. Magic Bus is delighted to announce a brand new funding partnership with Oval Cricket Relief Trust, Surrey County Cricket Club’s charity. A grant of £45,000 over 3 years will allow us to continue working with 1400 young people living in 4 communities in Kolkata who have been engaged with our programme since 2016.
The programme aims to address social inclusion, improved health; and improved education and employment outcomes through our evidenced activity based programme in the urban slums of Kolkata Bidan Nagar, Basanti Colony, Belgachia and Motijheel.
We will deliver 35 sessions annually alongside community events and festivals. We also work with parents and other key community stakeholders to ensure messages from sessions are supported and reinforced in the home environment and that parents are on board and supportive.
Cricket is a great vehicle to get our young people engaged and excited about the sessions so we’ll be including elements of cricket within sessions to reinforce the learning and development goals they are working towards.
