To celebrate the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, Magic Bus and Société Générale partnered up to send seven kids from our programme to Japan to take part in the Société Générale Rugby Spirit Festival. They gathered in Yokohama with kids from 11 other Société Générale charity partners from around Asia and the Pacific for educational workshops and activities focussing on diversity and integration.
There was also an opportunity to play some rugby, with everyone taking part in a tag rugby tournament, with coaches including England legend Johnny Wilkinson and India Women’s Captain Vahbiz Bharucha on hand to give training, mentoring and advice to all the players.
Finally, all the participants had a once-in-a-lifetime invitation to watch rugby played at the highest-level and see England’s historic victory over New Zealand at the International Stadium Yokohama.

The trip was an amazing opportunity for a group of children living in poverty to travel overseas, meet others their age from around the world, train with some of Rugby’s greatest players, and take part in an experience they’ll remember for the rest of their lives.
