Royal visitors join our children!

The Magic Bus programme in India received some Royal visitors yesterday [Sunday 10th April] when TRH Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the Oval Maiden in Mumbai.

Twenty-six children from our Magic Bus programme in the Bombay Port Trust community, one of the most deprived slums in Mumbai, had the chance to meet the Duke and Duchess. The Royal couple were on their first official visit to India and Magic Bus was one of only three charities invited to an event to welcome them and showcase our work.

To the delight of the Magic Bus children, both the Duke and Duchess took part in a session! With the children cheering them on, they navigated their way from one ‘safe zone’ to another, a metaphor for the different stages of education, dodging balls to reach the finish line which represented attaining a livelihood. Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also showed his support and took to the field, joining the Royal couple in a game of cricket with the children.

This was a wonderful opportunity for us to meet The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and demonstrate our model for alleviating poverty.

There visit has received some fantastic coverage in newspaper publications and you can read more about the visit here:

The Daily Telegraph

You can also watch a video of the Duke and Duchess during the session.
