Panel discusses poverty

Magic Bus' first panel discussion was a great success with a range of views and opinions presented on the question of 'how can the emerging youth population in India move out of poverty and into sustainable employment?'.

The discussion was chaired by television news presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy with panel members Nandini Gooptu, Head of International Development at Oxford University, Manoj Ladwa, Founder of India Inc., Maya Prabhu, Managing Director at Coutts Institute, Asif Rangoonwala, Chairman of the Rangoonwala Foundation, and Sonya Timms, Director of Magic Bus UK.

The discussion kicked off with a question to the panel from Krishnan on what difference the new government in India will make with the panel highlighting both the importance of skills development and the creation of new jobs. This was perhaps best summed up by Professor Gooptu when she said India needs 'more jobs, better jobs and better conditions'.

The discussion was generously hosted by Nomura and attended by Magic Bus supporters.
